Course Description

The Using Copilot in the Classroom course is an introductory course designed for teachers, lecturers, trainers, and education support staff who want to use Microsoft Copilot to save time and improve productivity in everyday teaching tasks. The course focuses on practical, real-world education examples and demonstrates how Copilot can assist with lesson preparation, classroom communication, assessment creation, resource development, meeting preparation, and administrative tasks across Microsoft 365 apps including Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, and Excel.

Prerequisites

Using Copilot in the Classroom assumes little or no prior experience with AI tools. However, participants should be comfortable using Microsoft 365 apps such as Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, and Excel, and have access to a Microsoft 365 account with a premium Copilot licence.

Course duration

The Using Copilot in the Classroom course is run over one-day, commencing at 9.00am and concluding at 4.00pm. The day includes breaks for morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea.

No prior AI experience is required. This course is designed for beginners and assumes little or no previous experience using Microsoft Copilot or other AI tools. Participants should simply be comfortable using Microsoft 365 applications such as Word, Outlook, Teams, PowerPoint, and Excel.

Yes. This is a hands-on practical course where participants use Microsoft Copilot throughout the session. Attendees complete activities using real-world education examples and are encouraged to apply the tools to their own teaching or workplace scenarios wherever possible.

Yes. The course includes discussion around responsible and appropriate AI use within education settings, including privacy, security, accuracy of AI-generated content, and the importance of reviewing material before sharing with students or staff.

Participants should have access to a Microsoft 365 account with a premium Microsoft Copilot licence assigned. This allows full access to Copilot features within Microsoft 365 applications covered during the training.

Our Using Copilot in Education course is delivered by qualified trainers who hold a Certificate IV in Training & Assessment (TAE40110) and have experience with curriculum integration and the education sector. This means you’ll gain both the theoretical and practical knowledge you need to master the use Copilot. In most cases, your trainer will be Belinda Anderson, a Microsoft software trainer with a Certificate IV in Training & Assessment who has been training in the sector since 2001.

Yes. Training can be tailored for schools, universities, faculties, departments, or administrative teams. Custom examples, workflows, and education scenarios can be incorporated into the session to make the training more relevant to your staff and teaching environment.
